15 held in Mymensingh for tampering with Titas Gas Transmission line

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC has detained 15 individuals in Mymensingh for allegedly attempting to temper Titas Gas transmission line, as part of its ongoing nationwide drive against illegal gas connections and unauthorised use.

The company disclosed the information in a press release issued on Monday night.

According to the statement, a team led by an Executive Magistrate assigned by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, along with Titas officials, sunday late night conducted extensive drives in various areas of Narayanganj to disconnect illegal gas connections.

As a result of these operations, certain criminal groups involved in providing illegal gas connections reportedly relocated their activities to the Mymensingh region, where they began supplying gas to unauthorised lime factories in exchange for money.

The release further stated that on October 26, while installing an illegal gas connection at a lime factory in Shambhuganj, Mymensingh, from the 6-inch × 1000 PSIG transmission pipeline running from Char Raghurampur, Mymensingh to Netrokona, a gas leakage occurred.

Titas officials, with assistance from local police, immediately intervened, detaining 15 individuals involved in the illegal connection. They were handed over to the local police station, and a case has been filed in this connection.

Titas Gas reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward illegal gas connections, warning that the eviction drives will continue and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in gas theft or unauthorized connections.
