The delivery of nuclear fuel for the second unit of Bangladesh’s Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is scheduled to begin in October and continue through December, Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom said on Monday.
In a statement issued on 28 September, Rosatom said the deliveries would be completed by the end of December 2026.
The nuclear fuel will be transported to Bangladesh in several flights in accordance with the terms of the contract and the project schedule, the company said.
The delivery marks a key stage in preparations for commissioning the 1,200MW Unit 2 of the Rooppur plant, located in Pabna.
The first unit of the Russian-designed plant has already received its initial nuclear fuel shipment as part of preparations for the start of operations.
