‘BanglaBiz’ – Bangladesh launches unified digital gateway for investors

Bangladesh has officially launched ‘BanglaBiz’, a unified digital gateway designed to streamline investment-related services and information for both domestic and foreign investors.

Developed through a joint initiative of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica), this centralized online platform aims to simplify the investment process and improve inter-agency coordination.

In a press release issued on Sunday, BIDA announced the formal inauguration of the portal, which consolidates the One Stop Service (OSS) portals of five major investment-related agencies:

BIDA, the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), and the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).

Additionally, users can access the website of the Public-Private Partnership Authority directly from the BanglaBiz homepage, further enhancing the platform’s scope and accessibility.

The initiative was first approved during a BIDA governing board meeting in April 2025, chaired by the Chief Advisor. Since then, JICA has provided both financial and technical support to develop and implement the platform.

The initial version of BanglaBiz offers a range of features to support investors. At its core is an integrated landing page that serves as a central information hub, including access to investment-related services, links to affiliated OSS portals, frequently asked questions, and contact details.

An interactive “How to Apply” tool helps users identify the appropriate investment authority based on their business type and sector, making navigation smoother and more personalized.

Furthermore, a management dashboard has been introduced to allow service providers to monitor the quality of services, analyze investment trends, and track various performance indicators in real time.

Tomohide Ichiguchi, Jica’s chief representative at Bangladesh office, emphasized that the launch of BanglaBiz is not just a technological milestone but a strategic transformation.

He noted that digital transformation plays a vital role in inclusive development, and BanglaBiz is a clear reflection of that vision—one that enhances investor empowerment while also strengthening institutional capacity.

Echoing this sentiment, BIDA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury said the platform addresses a long-standing demand from both local and international business communities for a unified investment portal.

According to him, BanglaBiz has been designed as a single entry point where potential investors can access all the necessary information and services required to start and manage a business in Bangladesh. He added that the platform is expected to foster healthy competition among service-providing agencies, ultimately improving the overall quality of services offered.

Looking ahead, the government plans to expand BanglaBiz into a full-fledged Investor Single Window platform. Future versions will include features such as a comprehensive Business Starter Package, a unique BanglaBiz ID for each investor, and a fully digital system for processing permits, approvals, and security clearances.

These developments are intended to ensure seamless integration and data sharing among various ministries and agencies, thereby reducing red tape and administrative delays.

JICA, the world’s largest bilateral development partner, has long played a leading role in supporting private sector development in Bangladesh. The launch of BanglaBiz marks another chapter in that collaboration.
