Bangladesh’s IT exporters are now delivering software and technology services to more than 104 countries, with around 300 firms regularly active in overseas markets, speakers said at the BASIS IT Exporters Night 2026.
The event highlighted the sector’s growing contribution to export diversification and its expanding presence in major markets such as the United States, Japan and Europe.
The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), with support from the Business Promotion Council, organised the programme at a city hotel on Tuesday, combining celebration with policy dialogue to review achievements and outline future strategies for the IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) export sector, according to a release.
The event brought together leading IT and ITES exporters, policymakers, entrepreneurs, diplomats, development partners, industry leaders and members of the BASIS support committee.
The focus was on the sector’s 28-year journey, its global expansion and the policy and market interventions needed to sustain long-term growth.
At the ceremony, the top 10 IT and ITES exporting companies for FY2024–25 were awarded for their outstanding contributions to export earnings and global branding of Bangladesh.
The awardees were BJIT Limited, Brain Station 23 Limited, UlkaSemi Private Limited, Celis Digital Platforms, Cefalo Bangladesh Limited, Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh Limited, Enosis Solutions, Therap (BD) Limited, Radiant Data Systems Limited and DataPath Limited.
The companies are active in high-value areas including software development, artificial intelligence, research and development, fintech and healthtech.

The United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore and Canada were identified as the top destinations for Bangladesh’s IT exports.
A panel discussion on the role of IT exports in economic diversification underscored the need for closer coordination among policymakers, the financial sector and private industry.
Panellists stressed that stable policies, access to finance, skills development and stronger global market linkages are essential to accelerate export growth.
The discussion featured industry leaders and development partners and was moderated by BASIS support committee members Mushfiqur Rahman and Rashed Kamal.
In his welcome address, BASIS founding member and support committee member Mostafa Rafiqul Islam Duke said BASIS started its journey with the vision of positioning Bangladesh’s IT sector strongly in the global market.
He said the IT Exporters Night was not only a recognition event but also a milestone to review past achievements and commit to future goals.
Convener of the event and BASIS support committee member Roushan Kamal James said Bangladesh’s IT and ITES sector has moved from potential to proven success. He said the programme aimed to recognise leading exporters, inspire emerging firms and strengthen dialogue between policymakers and industry stakeholders.
Speaking as chief guest, ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, said the IT and ITES sector has become an important driver of the national economy. He said government support through cash incentives, tax benefits, skill development and facilitation of global market access has helped the sector strengthen its international position.
Presiding over the programme, Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division and BASIS administrator, said BASIS has grown from 18 members to more than 2,700, who now form the backbone of Bangladesh’s IT exports.
He emphasised that future growth would depend on cash incentives, tax benefits, skilled human resources and improved access to international markets, backed by strong public–private collaboration.
