Government trying to keep economy stable despite global pressure: Amir Khasru

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that the government is working to maintain the stability of the country’s economy amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and global pressures, says BSS report.

Despite the challenging circumstances, he highlighted that efforts have been made to secure fuel supply, prevent fare hikes, and manage commodity prices, providing relief to the general public.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, the Planning Minister, shared these comments with reporters after exchanging Eid greetings with leaders and activists from various sectors at his residence in the Mehedibagh area of the city today.

He mentioned that despite the challenges posed by the ongoing war, the government has secured alternative sources for fuel procurement to alleviate pressure on the supply system.

This has ensured that transportation services have not been disrupted due to fuel shortages during the Eid holidays, and there have been no fare increases. Amir Khasru emphasized that the government is working to sustain this situation. He also acknowledged that the government cannot fully control the repercussions of the conflict in the Middle East.

Finding sources of fuel oil and ensuring a stable supply has become a significant challenge.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized the need for cooperation, sympathy, and restraint from the people to address this issue collectively.

He warned about the potential escalation of pressure if the war persists, highlighting the global impact that could eventually affect the people.

Chowdhury stressed the importance of remaining composed to navigate through these challenging times.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a  ruling BNP Standing Committee Member, noted that this year’s Eid celebrations are happening in a festive and fear-free environment, attributing it to the people’s regained sense of ownership. He expressed optimism about the country’s progress and urged everyone to remain hopeful for the future.

He mentioned that there was no worker dissatisfaction in the garment sector due to the advance payment of salaries and allowances before Ramadan and Eid, which is a significant improvement from previous years.

The Finance and Planning Minister highlighted various government initiatives for the welfare of the people, such as the introduction of family and farmers’ cards, loan waivers for farmers, and allowances for religious leaders.

Amir Kasru urged the people to stay united and show restraint, cooperation, and empathy in facing the current global crisis.
