Govt claims stable power supply with zero loadshedding

Bangladesh maintained a stable electricity supply across all major regions on 1 May, with no recorded loadshedding throughout the day, according to official data released by national grid authorities.

The report, titled “Actual Demand, Supply and Loadshed Scenario”, shows that electricity generation consistently met demand at multiple checkpoints — midnight, midday, afternoon and the evening peak period.

At 00:00, national demand stood at 10,374 megawatts (MW), fully matched by supply. Demand dipped to 8,894 MW at 12:00 and 8,475 MW at 15:00, before rising again to 10,462 MW during the 19:30 evening peak. In each case, supply met demand exactly, resulting in zero loadshedding.

Regionally, all nine zones — including Dhaka, Chattogram, Cumilla, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Rajshahi and Rangpur — reported uninterrupted electricity service. Key distribution companies such as DESCO, DPDC, and REB similarly recorded no supply shortfalls.

The data highlights a notable period of grid stability in a country that has historically faced power shortages, particularly during peak demand hours. Analysts say the figures reflect improved generation capacity, better demand forecasting, and more efficient grid management.

Energy experts note that the favorable weather conditions over the past couple of days have led to a reduced demand for electricity.
