Adani’s power supply to Bangladesh suspended

Electricity supply from the 1,600MW Jharkhand coal-fired power plant operated by Adani Power has been suspended after both of its generation units shut down early this morning.

According to officials, Unit-1 had ceased power generation three days ago due to a boiler tube leak. “Unit-1 is expected to resume electricity generation at any time today, as it has already been synchronized for operation,” an official familiar with the matter said.

The second unit (Unit-2) also went offline early this morning, reportedly due to a similar technical issue.

“We are hopeful of determining the repair timeline once the unit cools down,” the official added.

Adani Power has formally notified the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) about the disruption.
