A China (Hong Kong)-based company is set to manufacture greenhouse hydroponics tents in Bangladesh, marking a new addition to the country’s non-traditional export sector.
Green Pure Houseware (BD) Company Limited has signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a factory at a BEPZA economic zone, according to a release issued on Sunday.
The company plans to invest $30.47 million to produce greenhouse hydroponics tents—specialized portable structures used for soil-less farming. In addition to these tents, the factory will manufacture EVA cabinet mats, cartons, and PE packaging films.
BEPZA said hydroponics tents are a non-traditional, high value-added export product, aligning with its strategic goal of diversifying exports and entering specialized global markets.
The products will be exported to several countries, including the United States, European nations, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Japan. The project is expected to create employment opportunities for around 3,000 Bangladeshi nationals.
The agreement was signed at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. BEPZA Executive Director (Investment Development) Md Tanvir Hossain signed on behalf of the authority, while Managing Director Wang Shenyu represented Green Pure Houseware (BD) Company Limited. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Mowazzem Hossain witnessed the signing ceremony.
Welcoming the investment, the BEPZA Executive Chairman reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to providing full support and ensuring an investment-friendly environment for investors.
Senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Engineering) Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Finance) ANM Faizul Haque, and Executive Director (Public Relations) ASM Anwar Parvez, were also present at the event, along with representatives of the company.
