DCCI, DSE sign MoU to strengthen SME access to capital market

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC (DSE) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation on market development, research, and SME participation in Bangladesh’s capital market.

The agreement, signed at the DSE Tower on Tuesday, was formalised by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed and DSE Chairman Mominul Islam. Under the deal, the two institutions will jointly conduct research, seminars, policy dialogues and capacity-building programmes to promote transparency, investor confidence, and improved access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Mr Ahmed described the MoU as “a shared vision to strengthen Bangladesh’s economic foundation through cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation.” He added that the partnership seeks to “bridge the capital market and the private sector, empowering SMEs to access finance, grow sustainably and contribute more effectively to national development.”

Mr Islam said the collaboration would help raise awareness among SMEs about the listing process and other opportunities available through the stock exchange. “SMEs often lack the understanding needed to access the capital market. This partnership will help close that gap through seminars, workshops and awareness initiatives,” he said.

He added that both institutions stand to benefit from “mutual cooperation, trust and concerted efforts” to foster innovation and policy advocacy conducive to capital market growth.

The signing ceremony was attended by DCCI Senior Vice President Razeev H. Chowdhury, DSE Acting Managing Director Mohammad Asadur Rahman, and members of the boards of both organisations.
