A devastating fire broke out at Adams Caps & Textiles Ltd, a caps and textiles manufacturing factory, around 2:20 PM on Thursday in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ), eyewitnesses said.
The blaze reportedly started on the fifth floor of the building before spreading to two other floors, allegedly due to a delay in the arrival of firefighters.
“We first noticed the fire breaking out on the fifth floor around 2:20 PM. It then quickly spread to other floors as help was delayed,” Mohammad Sayem Jahangir, an eyewitness, told Just Energy News.
Firefighting units rushed to the spot and were working to bring the situation under control as of filing this report.
Several workers sustained minor injuries while attempting to evacuate the building, sources said.
