Govt to procure 1 cargo LNG from Singapore

The government on Tuesday approved separate proposals for procuring some one cargo LNG and 30,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer to meet the growing demands for the country.

The approvals came from a meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

Under an approved proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through following international quotation method from Vitol Asia Pte Limited Singapore with around Tk 531.56 crore with per MMBtu LNG costing $12.62.

In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure some 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer under the 18th lot from KAFCO, Bangladesh, with around Tk 146.53 crore where per ton fertilizer would cost $397.75.

Besides, the day’s purchase committee meeting also approved two proposals from the Power Division, one proposal each from the Road Transport and Highways Division and the Local Government Division.
