Grameenphone has introduced Wi-Fi Calling based on Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) technology, marking a new milestone in Bangladesh’s digital connectivity.
The service allows Grameenphone customers with VoLTE-enabled connections to make clearer, high-quality voice calls using compatible smartphones over supported Wi-Fi networks, without requiring any additional applications.
To ensure seamless service delivery, Grameenphone has partnered initially with BracNet, Carnival Internet, Chittagong Online Limited and MiME-Internet as internet service provider (ISP) collaborators.
The operator said the introduction of Wi-Fi Calling will further enhance call quality and reliability, particularly in areas with limited mobile network coverage, reflecting its ongoing commitment to improving customer experience through advanced digital solutions.
Solaiman Alam, Chief Product Officer of Grameenphone, said the launch underscores the company’s focus on innovation. “The introduction of Wi-Fi Calling marks another important milestone in this journey. We look forward to enabling our valued customers to enjoy clearer, high-quality voice calls over their Wi-Fi networks,” he said.
