Habiganj-5 Well adds 26mmcfd gas to national grid

The Habiganj-5 well has begun supplying 26 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd) to the national grid following the successful completion of its work-over under the project titled Workover of Seven Wells in Titas, Habiganj, Bakhrabad and Meghna Fields implemented by Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL).

The work-over was completed on 3 December 2025, and the gas supply was formally inaugurated today at 4:30pm by Petrobangla Chairman Md Rezanur Rahman.

BGFCL Managing Director Engr Md Faruk Hossain, senior general managers, Project Director Engr Ismail, and officials and employees from BGFCL and BAPEX were present during the inauguration. Petrobangla’s General Manager (RDM) and the Managing Director of Jalalabad Gas Distribution Company also attended the event.

Officials said the new output from Habiganj-5 is expected to strengthen the country’s gas supply at a time of rising domestic demand.
