IAEA and Rosatom to promote greater participation of women and youth in nuclear industry

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Rosatom Corporate Academy have agreed to jointly implement a series of initiatives, including educational programs, seminars, and strategic sessions, aimed at promoting greater participation of women and youth in the nuclear industry.

The two-year agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 69th General Conference of the IAEA, held recently in Vienna. Mikhail Chudakov, IAEA Deputy Director General, and Yulia Uzhakina, Director General of the Rosatom Corporate Academy, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Tatyana Terentieva, Rosatom’s Deputy Director General for Human Resources, was also present.

“Today we are signing a landmark agreement that opens a new chapter in our long-standing and fruitful cooperation with Rosatom. This is the first step for the Corporate Academy towards obtaining the prestigious status of an IAEA Cooperation Center, and we see great potential in this,” said Chudakov.

He added that the partnership will focus on strategically important areas, including fostering young talent and supporting the leadership potential of women professionals in the nuclear sector.

Uzhakina emphasized Rosatom’s readiness to share its expertise: “We are ready to share Rosatom’s experience and best practices in training nuclear energy personnel, unlocking employees’ potential, and attracting young people and women to the industry. These investments in people are extremely important not only for us, but also for the global nuclear industry, especially for new nuclear countries.”

Highlighting Rosatom’s long-term focus, Terentieva said, “Personnel sustainability is one of Rosatom’s key priorities. We are building a global nuclear education system based on the best practices and standards of the IAEA, which form the foundation of international cooperation and security. I believe this new level of partnership and cooperation with the IAEA will provide a strong impetus to the training of top-level specialists.”
