Rampal Power sets new national record with highest generation

The Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP) in Rampal has set a new national milestone by generating 700 million units (MUs) of electricity in November 2025 — the highest monthly output recorded by any power plant in Bangladesh.

MSTPP is operated by the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Ltd (BIFPCL), a joint venture between the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and India’s NTPC.

According to a press release, this achievement highlights the plant’s strong operational efficiency and reliability. Throughout November, MSTPP supplied nearly 11.5% of the country’s total electricity demand, strengthening its position as Bangladesh’s single largest power producer.

The press statement said the record-breaking output reflects the plant’s advanced industrial capabilities, efficient coal and asset management, and robust financial and operational planning. MSTPP has consistently been generating more than 600 MUs every month, meeting about 8% of national electricity demand on average.

The November performance marks a new benchmark for the country’s power sector. With its consistent and dependable generation, MSTPP continues to play a key role in ensuring Bangladesh’s energy security, supporting industries, households, and economic growth.
