Rampura grid malfunction: Power outage in many parts of Dhaka

A technical fault at the Rampura 230/132kV grid substation has caused a widespread power outage across many areas of Dhaka city. The outage began around 9:50 PM, leaving several neighborhoods without electricity. Even after more than an hour, power has yet to be restored in affected areas.

According to sources at the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), a sudden technical fault occurred at the Rampura 230/132kV grid substation at 9:50 PM. Engineers from PGCB are currently working to resolve the issue.

As a result of the malfunction, several areas including Gulshan, Banani, Bashundhara, Hatirjheel, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Rampura, Moghbazar, Segunbagicha, and Bakshi Bazar are without electricity.

When contacted regarding the outage, BPDB Director Public Relations  Md. Shamim Hasan told the media that the fault at the Rampura grid substation has disrupted power supply. PGCB is working to restore connections through alternative means. He expressed hope that the situation will return to normal shortly.

Electricity supply resumes in most areas by the time of filing this report.
