Rosatom showcases 4th generation nuke tech in China

Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom has showcased cutting-edge Generation IV nuclear reactor technologies at the World Nuclear University’s (WNU) Summer Institute, recently held in China.

The Summer Institute brought together nuclear professionals from across the globe for an intensive educational programme aimed at enhancing leadership, technical knowledge, and communication skills within the nuclear sector. Six major companies from Russia’s nuclear industry participated in the event.

Rosatom’s presentation highlighted its advanced reactor technologies that support the concept of a closed nuclear fuel cycle, offering enhanced fuel efficiency, improved safety, reduced radioactive waste, and greater energy output. These technologies fall under the Generation IV classification by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which encompasses innovative systems focused on sustainability and efficiency.

The WNU Summer Institute is a prestigious 270-hour immersive program held annually in different countries. It includes lectures, technical workshops, site visits to nuclear facilities, and collaborative team projects. Each year, approximately 70 young professionals from around the world are selected to take part in this initiative aimed at shaping the next generation of nuclear industry leaders.
