Severe weather halts LNG berthing, triggers gas shortage nationwide

Disrupted LNG berthing due to inclement weather at Maheshkhali has led to a significant drop in gas supply to the national grid, affecting distribution across the country.

Due to inclement weather, LNG cargoes could not berth at the FSRU located in the deep sea of Maheshkhali yesterday and today, resulting in a significant reduction in RLNG send-out to the national grid, said a Petrobangla statement.

As a result, areas under Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited and Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC are experiencing low gas pressure.

Berthing will resume once the weather conditions improve.

The authorities sincerely apologize for the temporary inconvenience caused to the public.
