Summit has announced the appointment of Md Sayedul Alam as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Summit LNG Terminal Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. (SLNG).
SLNG, Bangladesh’s second Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), has the capacity to regasify 500 million standard cubic feet per day (mmcfd) and store 138,000 cubic metres of LNG.
It is a joint venture between Summit and Mitsubishi Corporation, with lead financing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The terminal operates under a long-term vessel support services agreement with PSA Marine, Singapore.
Alam has played a pivotal role in SLNG’s development since 2018. As Project Director, he led the construction and commissioning of the offshore terminal in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, connecting it to the national gas grid via a six-kilometre sub-sea pipeline. He later served as Terminal Manager, overseeing its high operational reliability.
With over 30 years of experience in the maritime and energy sectors, Alam brings deep expertise in LNG and LPG terminal development. He previously held senior roles at MOL Tank ship Management Asia, Ocean Tankers, and K Line.
Alam holds a BSc in Marine Engineering from Bangladesh Marine Academy, an MBA from Murdoch University, and is pursuing a Master’s in Economics at North South University. He is also a certified Class-1 Marine Engineer Officer and a member of professional bodies including IMarEST, London, and SMOU, Singapore.
