Bangladesh’s garment manufacturers will showcase their progress in green production, worker welfare and digital supply-chain transparency at Batexpo 2026, as global buyers increasingly demand higher environmental and social standards.
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will feature a special “Impact Zone” at the two-day expo to highlight the industry’s sustainability initiatives and readiness to meet evolving global market requirements.
The association announced the initiative in a press release on Tuesday.
The Impact Zone will showcase efforts to reduce carbon emissions, expand renewable energy use, promote recycling and circular production, and improve resource efficiency.
It will also highlight initiatives on gender equality, workers’ health and nutrition, childcare and maternal care.
Focus on new global requirements
The exhibition will feature digital technologies designed to improve transparency and traceability across garment supply chains, including digital product passports and systems that track products through different stages of production and distribution.
These technologies are gaining importance as the European Union changes its regulatory requirements and global supply chains place greater emphasis on product information, transparency and sustainability.
The initiative aims to demonstrate how Bangladesh’s apparel industry is moving beyond conventional compliance towards more sustainable production and stronger international competitiveness.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said the zone would reflect the industry’s broader transformation in response to climate concerns, resource efficiency and the circular economy.
“It is not just a story of compliance, but a journey towards leadership in the global market,” he said.
Vidya Amrit Khan, BGMEA vice-president and the principal architect of the Impact Zone, said Bangladesh needed to develop the capacity not only to meet changing global sustainability requirements but also to lead the transition.
The initiative aims to position Bangladesh as a trusted and forward-looking partner in sustainable garment production, rather than merely a leading sourcing destination, she said.
The 25th edition of Batexpo, organised by BGMEA with PDS as the title sponsor, will be held on November 18 and 19 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
