The Bangladesh-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) hosted a distinguished welcome ceremony and reception at Le Meridien, Dhaka, in honor of Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bangladesh.
The event also marked a significant leadership transition within the Chamber as M. Maksud, the outgoing President, formally handed over the presidency to Md. Rokonuzzaman, the newly elected president of BGCCI, according to a release.
In his remarks, Maksud reaffirmed BGCCI’s commitment to advancing bilateral trade, investment, and economic collaboration between Bangladesh and Germany.
He highlighted the Chamber’s continuing efforts to promote sustainable business growth, facilitate knowledge exchange, and foster deeper cultural understanding between the two countries.
Laying out his vision for the Chamber, President Rokonuzzaman emphasized attracting greater German investment in renewable energy, technology, and other emerging sectors.
He underscored the Chamber’s role in advocating for business stability and policy clarity, particularly during Bangladesh’s ongoing political transition.
“We are deeply honored to have Ambassador Dr. Rüdiger Lotz with us and sincerely appreciate his gracious acceptance of our invitation,” Rokonuzzaman said. “His vision for strengthening bilateral ties and fostering collaboration in trade, investment, and cultural exchange inspires us all.”
Ambassador Lotz expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Germany’s continued commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s development goals.
He highlighted opportunities for sustainable economic cooperation, innovation, and people-to-people engagement, noting that both nations stand to benefit from deeper strategic collaboration.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Navaneetha Krishnan, vice president of BGCCI, who expressed appreciation to all attendees for their participation and warm welcome to the new ambassador.
