The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and international quality assurance company Intertek have held a key meeting to strengthen collaboration in advancing sustainability, addressing industry challenges, and enhancing cooperation in the readymade garment (RMG) sector.
The meeting, held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, was attended by Intertek South Asia Regional Managing Director Ajay Kapoor and BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haque Khan. BGMEA Directors Nafis-ud-Daula, Jowarder Md. Hosne Komar Alam, and Sheikh Suchita Jahan Sneha were also present. From Intertek, Regional CFO South Asia Ashish Gupta, Country Managing Director Neyamul Hasan, and Head of Sales, Business Development and CRM Aliza Sultana joined the discussions.
The talks focused on the current state of the RMG industry and explored how Intertek’s Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification (ATIC) services could strengthen supply chain support. Inamul Haque Khan highlighted BGMEA’s interest in collaborating with Intertek to enhance SME capacity, adopt digital platforms, and expand training programs for workers and management staff.
He also reiterated BGMEA’s strong commitment to establishing integrated social and environmental standards in the sector, seeking Intertek’s support in this process.
Ajay Kapoor said, “Bangladesh’s garment industry plays a crucial role in the global market. We are committed to strengthening our partnership with BGMEA by providing world-class services to enhance the business standards and efficiency of its members.”
Both sides agreed to explore new avenues of collaboration and work jointly to ensure a more transparent and sustainable RMG supply chain.
