Chevron appoints Javier La Rosa to lead global exploration and production assets

Chevron has appointed Javier La Rosa as President of Base Assets and Emerging Countries (BAEC), a role that places him in charge of several key exploration and production assets across the company’s global portfolio.

His appointment is effective from July 1, 2025, according to a company press release.

Based at Chevron’s headquarters in Houston, La Rosa will oversee the strategic direction and operational performance of the BAEC organization. The portfolio includes heavy oil assets in the Partitioned Zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, San Joaquin Valley in California, and Venezuela; domestic gas operations in Bangladesh and Thailand; and non-operated joint ventures in the UK, Canada, and China. He will also manage emerging assets in Egypt and Cyprus, as well as legacy holdings in Indonesia.

La Rosa’s appointment follows Chevron Corporation’s (NYSE: CVX) February 2025 announcement of efforts to streamline its organizational structure, enhance operational agility, and strengthen its long-term global competitiveness.

“I am honored to be appointed to this new role. I believe the key to advancing and maintaining partnerships is trust. Partnerships between people, companies, and countries are fundamental to providing reliable, affordable, and ever-cleaner energy,” La Rosa said.

Previously based in Buenos Aires, La Rosa served as Managing Director of Chevron Latin America. He has also led Chevron’s operations in Venezuela, Brazil, and Colombia, in addition to overseeing geothermal projects in Indonesia and the Philippines.

“I leave Argentina filled with optimism for the country and the region. I am confident that we will continue to advance the tremendous opportunities we see in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale play and across Latin America,” he added.

Chevron also confirmed that Eric Walker will continue in his current role as President and Managing Director of Chevron Bangladesh.
