Bangladesh is expected to experience reduced gas pressure across large parts of the country from Monday night through June 25 as regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supplies fall due to maintenance work at a floating LNG import terminal, energy officials said.
The supply disruption is linked to maintenance of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) operated by US-based Excelerate Energy, according to officials at state-owned Petrobangla.
“I have heard about the maintenance of the FSRU operated by Excelerate Energy,” Petrobangla Acting Chairman Md Abdul Mannan told Just Energy News.
State-owned distributor Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited said all categories of consumers within its service area would face low gas pressure from the night of June 22 until June 25 because of reduced RLNG supply.
In a public notice, the utility warned that residential, commercial and industrial customers across its franchise area, including the capital Dhaka and surrounding regions, are likely to experience lower-than-normal gas pressure during the three-day period.
“Titas Gas Authority sincerely regrets the temporary inconvenience caused to our valued customers,” the company said.
