Robi supports post rehabilitation for flood-affected communities in Feni

Robi Axiata PLC has undertaken initiatives to support the post rehabilitation of flood-affected communities in Feni.

In collaboration with the Give Bangladesh Foundation, Robi is working to build post-disaster resilience among those impacted in Parshuram Upazilla, Feni, with a focus on education, agriculture, and environmental recovery.

The devastating floods that struck the greater Noakhali and Feni regions of Bangladesh during August and September this year left countless people homeless and without livelihoods. Farmers and professionals from various sectors were severely affected, and educational institutions, along with other critical infrastructure, suffered significant damage. While Robiā€™s sustainability team provided immediate relief during the floods, the operator has now introduced long-term measures to aid recovery.

As part of its efforts, Robi has distributed educational supplies to 1,500 students from four schools and madrasas in Parshuram. Each stationery package includes notebooks, pens, geometry boxes, and school bags, designed to encourage students to return to their studies with renewed enthusiasm after the disruption caused by the floods. Additionally, the company has supported 100 flood-affected farming families by providing vegetable seeds and fertilisers, enabling them to restart cultivation and contributing to local food security and economic stability.

Robi has also planted 1,000 medicinal and fruit trees in flood-affected schools, involving active participation from students and teachers. This initiative aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation and foster a greener and more sustainable future.

Additionally, as part of the rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected individuals, Robi has collaborated with the Bangladesh Army to provide necessary support on behalf of its employees.

Robi Public Affairs and Sustainability Director, Sharif Shah Jamal Raj said: ā€œOur commitment to sustainable development extends beyond business operations; it is about making meaningful changes in peopleā€™s lives.ā€
