Summit Group has appointed Md Reaz Uddin as the Managing Director and CEO of Summit Meghnaghat I (337 MW) and Summit Meghnaghat II (583 MW) Power Companies, two major combined cycle power plants.
Summit Meghnaghat I is a joint venture with Japan’s Taiyo Life Insurance and JERA, while Summit Meghnaghat II includes GE (USA) as a key partner alongside JERA and Summit.
Reaz Uddin, a BUET graduate in Chemical Engineering, joined Summit in 2011 and brings over 32 years of experience in power generation. He previously served as CEO of Summit Meghnaghat II and COO of both Meghnaghat I and Summit Bibiyana Power Plants.
Throughout his career, he has played a pivotal role in developing power projects totaling over 2,000 MW and securing more than US$ 1.1 billion in foreign financing.
Beyond his professional contributions, Mr. Uddin is known for his social engagement. During the COVID-19 crisis and 2024 floods, he personally led relief efforts. He also holds an MBA from Victoria University, Australia. He lives with his wife and two daughters and is passionate about sports, travel, and music. Mr. Uddin is widely respected for his integrity and leadership.
