Summit LNG Terminal Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. (SLNG) has announced the successful completion of its 250th Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer operation, marking a major operational milestone for the country’s energy infrastructure. The achievement underscores the terminal’s continued commitment to world-class safety and efficiency, according to an official statement.
During the 2024–2025 financial year, SLNG supplied nearly 13% of Bangladesh’s total gas demand, strengthening its position as a vital contributor to national energy security. Since beginning operations in April 2019, the terminal has received 35,054,637 m³ of LNG and delivered approximately 785,549,295 MMBTU of regasified LNG (RLNG) to the national grid.
SLNG extended its appreciation to Excelerate Energy LP and PSA Marine, Singapore for their support in maintaining safe and uninterrupted terminal and STS operations.
The company also expressed gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh, Petrobangla and RPGCL for their continued trust, as well as to foreign lenders—led by SMBC Singapore—whose partnership has supported SLNG’s operational progress.
The milestone celebration also highlighted the contributions of engineering and classification partners including MacGregor, Geocean, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Bureau Veritas (BV) and Shelf Subsea.
SLNG noted that leading international oil and gas majors—among them QatarGas, BP, Shell, Total, Chevron Shipping, Cheniere Energy, Petronas and NLNG—have vetted the terminal as a safe and compliant facility, reinforcing its global credibility.
The company acknowledged the cooperation of numerous government and regulatory bodies, including the Department of Shipping, Chittagong Port Authority, Department of Environment, BIDA, BERC, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Customs, NBR, RJSC, Department of Explosives, Bangladesh Bank, GTCL, Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard, Moheshkhali Upazila Administration, BIWTA, Department of Fisheries, Home Ministry, Ministry of Finance, River Police and the Cox’s Bazar District Administration.
SLNG also recognised the assistance of its LNG suppliers—Qatar Energy, BP Shipping, Nakilat Shipping, Maran Gas Maritime, MOL LNG Shipmanagement, NYK, K-Line, Höegh LNG, Teekay Shipping, Golar LNG and Shell International Trading & Shipping Co. Ltd. (STASCO)—which has been essential to maintaining safe and reliable offshore STS operations.
