The Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP), has launched a three-month training course on semiconductor testing for university graduates.
The programme was inaugurated at the AIUB Banani Campus in Dhaka, with 25 graduates from different universities enrolled in the first course.
The initiative aims to provide young graduates with practical, industry-relevant skills in semiconductor testing and prepare them for employment and career opportunities in Bangladesh and overseas.
BSIA President and BSIA-SICIP Programme Standing Committee chairman M A Jabbar urged participants to work hard and keep pace with developments in the global semiconductor industry.
“The semiconductor sector offers significant opportunities both at home and abroad,” said Mynul Hossain, joint secretary and DEPD (FM) of SICIP, who attended the event as special guest.
He encouraged trainees to make effective use of the government-funded skills development opportunity.
Other speakers included Mohammad Afzal Hossain, deputy secretary and AEPD (PM), SICIP; Munir Ahmed, director of BSIA and iTest Bangladesh Ltd; and Dr Hasan Uz Zaman, professor of electrical and electronic engineering at BRAC University.
During the event, BSIA and iTest Bangladesh Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct the training course.
Guests also visited the semiconductor testing laboratory established for the programme.
Under the wider BSIA-SICIP initiative, 3,500 university graduates are expected to receive training in seven specialised areas of semiconductor technology over the next two years.
