A 39-member business delegation from the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by its president Taskeen Ahmed, will visit Malaysia from 22 to 25 September to explore opportunities to expand bilateral trade, investment and exports.
The delegation will hold business-to-business (B2B) meetings with leading Malaysian business organisations, including the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia.
The meetings are scheduled for 23, 24 and 25 September respectively and are expected to provide Bangladeshi businesses with opportunities to develop commercial partnerships and attract Malaysian investment.
The delegation will also attend the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Kuala Lumpur on 24 September, one of the world’s major platforms for the halal industry. Bangladeshi companies are expected to use the event to explore international markets and connect with global halal-sector businesses.
DCCI leaders are also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing and Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia will provide support and cooperation to the delegation during the visit.
The trip comes amid significant economic links between the two countries, including trade, investment and labour migration. Bangladeshi nationals account for about 37% of foreign workers in Malaysia and remitted $3.40 billion to Bangladesh in the 2025–26 financial year.
Bilateral trade stood at about $2.57 billion in 2024–25, with Bangladesh importing goods worth $2.293 billion from Malaysia and exporting $282 million.
Malaysian companies have invested $755.48 million in Bangladesh, with major investments in telecommunications, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, construction and textiles.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 25 September.
