Summit Corporation Ltd appoints new CFO

Imtiaz Ibne Sattar has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Summit Corporation Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-incorporated Summit Power International Limited (SPI).

SPI is the largest independent power producer (IPP) and a leading LNG infrastructure operator in Bangladesh.

In his new role, Imtiaz will lead Summit Corporation’s unified finance team, focusing on project financing, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, including coordination with investors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities. He will report directly to the Board of Directors of Summit Corporation and the senior leadership team of SPI.

Imtiaz brings extensive experience in financial leadership, having previously served as the CFO of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh, for over eight years. During his tenure, he managed a USD 4 billion balance sheet through a period of high growth, ensuring a strong capital position with a 13% Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio, maintaining a AAA credit rating, and achieving consistently positive audit outcomes.

In 2016, Imtiaz transitioned to the role of Director and Chief Operating Officer at Golden Oak Care, a healthcare enterprise in Canada. There, he led efforts in corporatization, strategic business planning, operational model development, and financing pitches to investors and lenders.

He later joined Scotiabank as the project team lead for a new risk score model impacting a retail asset portfolio exceeding CAD 260 billion. His work included regulatory remediation under the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) guidelines. Prior to his current appointment, he also served as a tax consultant at an advisory firm in Toronto.

Imtiaz holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and has completed an Executive Leadership Development program at INSEAD Business School in Singapore.

Beyond his professional achievements, Imtiaz has a strong record of social contribution. He has volunteered to teach financial literacy to disadvantaged youth at the Jaago Foundation School in Dhaka’s urban slums and participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness run with a Canadian banking institution. His personal interests include soccer, world history, economic cycles, and wildlife preservation.
