Business leaders from Bangladesh and Pakistan have identified significant trade potential in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, surgical equipment, electronics, and industrial machinery components. Both sides expressed optimism that joint ventures could lead to mutually beneficial outcomes.
This shared vision emerged during a networking session held Thursday morning in Motijheel, Dhaka, between local Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and a visiting delegation of Pakistani business representatives. The event was organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
The meeting was chaired by FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman and attended by Muhammad Wasif, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan in Dhaka.
Highlighting the importance of trade diversification, Rahman said, “Sectors like motor and electronics components, as well as intermediate industrial machinery, are crucial for both nations. There are also untapped opportunities in pharmaceuticals, surgical products, textiles, and more.”
He further emphasized that the FBCCI and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will work jointly to enhance bilateral trade relations.
Acting High Commissioner Muhammad Wasif echoed the sentiment, stating, “There is ample opportunity to expand trade and investment between Pakistan and Bangladesh. I’m hopeful that continued networking initiatives will help uncover new areas of collaboration.”
Business representatives from both countries showed keen interest in expanding trade in pharmaceuticals, textiles, electronics, and industrial components through collaborative efforts and joint ventures.
The meeting was also attended by Nasrin Fatema Awwal, former director of FBCCI; Md. Alamgir, Secretary General of FBCCI; Md. Zafar Iqbal NDC, head of the FBCCI International Affairs Wing; and other business leaders and officials.
