Emirates, US-Bangla, Saudia Cargo named top airlines of 2024

Emirates has been voted the Best International Airline, US-Bangla Airlines the Best Domestic Airline, and Saudia Cargo the Best Cargo Airline in the prestigious ShareTrip–Monitor Airline of the Year 2024 awards, based on the opinions of over 3,000 frequent flyers.

The winners were formally announced at a grand ceremony held yesterday at a local Hotel in Dhaka.

Now in its 11th edition, the awards—launched in 2007 by The Bangladesh Monitor, the country’s leading aviation and tourism publication—aim to recognize excellence across the aviation industry. This year’s event was sponsored by ShareTrip, Bangladesh’s top online travel agency, with support from Eastern Bank, Sabre Bangladesh, Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, and BuyTickets.

A record 23 award categories were presented this year, with airlines receiving Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Taufiq Uddin Ahmed, Founder and Chairman of Galaxy Bangladesh, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the travel and tourism sector.

The event was graced by Md. Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, as Chief Guest. Other distinguished speakers included Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor of The Bangladesh Monitor; Prof. Dr. M. Sadiqul Islam, Chairman of the Jury Committee; Sadia Haque, Co-Founder and CEO of ShareTrip; Mohammad Saiful Hoque, Country GM & CEO of Sabre Bangladesh; and Asif Ahmed, Acting GM of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.

Several new award categories were introduced this year, including “Most Popular Airline Brands in Bangladesh,” recognizing 12 leading carriers. In the “Best Airport Lounge” category, MTB Air Lounge won Gold, followed by EBL Sky Lounge with Silver and City Bank Amex Lounge with Bronze.

The winners were selected through an online survey of frequent travelers and validated by an 11-member jury panel comprising aviation experts, travel professionals, and industry leaders. The panel rigorously reviewed the data before finalizing the results.
