Average daily container handling increases after Chittagong Dry Dock Ltd takes over operations

Container handling activities at the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chittagong Port have shown marked improvement in the first seven days of operational management by Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL), according to a statement from the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

From July 7 to July 13, 2025, the terminal recorded an average daily handling of 3,181 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), up from 2,956 TEUs during the previous week under the management of Saif Powertec Limited.

This represents a daily increase of 225 TEUs, signaling a boost in operational efficiency and performance.

Saif Powertec had operated the NCT terminal for an extended period. Following the expiration of its contract with Chittagong Port on July 6, 2025, the Ministry of Shipping approved the transfer of operational responsibility to CDDL, effective July 7.

Since the transition, improvements in coordination and operational discipline have been observed. Between July 7 and July 13, loading and unloading of 10 vessels were completed successfully, and currently, 4 vessels are being handled simultaneously across the terminal’s four berths.
