Inflation Eases Slightly to 8.29% in August

Bangladesh’s overall inflation on point-to-point basis declined marginally to 8.29 percent in August 2025, down from 8.55 percent in July, according to the latest figures released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The slight easing of inflation was primarily driven by a reduction in non-food inflation, the BBS reported.

In comparison, the inflation rate stood at 8.48 percent in June.

Data shows that food inflation edged up slightly to 7.60 percent in August, compared to 7.56 percent in the previous month. However, non-food inflation saw a more notable decrease, falling to 8.90 percent in August from 9.38 percent in July.

Both rural and urban areas experienced minor declines in inflation during the same period, the BBS added.
