bKash expands digital zakat donations to more than 50 charities

Mobile financial services provider bKash has enabled users to send zakat and other charitable donations to more than 50 organisations nationwide, aiming to simplify giving during the holy month of Ramadan.

The platform said the initiative is designed to help donors overcome common barriers such as distance, time constraints and concerns about whether funds reach intended beneficiaries. Through the bKash app, users can now transfer contributions directly to a wide network of charities and volunteer groups supporting vulnerable communities across Bangladesh.

Partner organisations include As-Sunnah Foundation, Mastul Foundation, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, Anjuman Mufidul Islam, JAAGO Foundation, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, UNICEF and the World Food Programme, among others.

According to bKash, customers can also contribute through merchant accounts operated by various social and voluntary organisations.

To make a donation, users select the “Donation” icon in the bKash app, choose their preferred organisation, enter the donation amount and personal details, and confirm the payment using their bKash PIN. Donors who prefer anonymity can opt not to disclose their identity.

The company said the digital channel is helping ensure faster and more transparent delivery of zakat and other charitable funds to thousands of underprivileged people across the country.
