Xiaomi expands smart home push with Bangladesh appliance launch

Xiaomi has broadened its global smart living ambitions with the launch of its first range of home appliances in Bangladesh, signalling a strategic shift beyond smartphones into a fully integrated lifestyle ecosystem.

The Beijing-based technology group unveiled the new lineup at an event in Dhaka under the banner “Smart Living for Everyone”, marking its formal entry into the country’s home appliance market. The move reflects growing demand across emerging economies for connected household technology.

Already one of the world’s largest consumer electronics manufacturers, Xiaomi leads the global AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) sector with more than one billion connected devices.

It also ranks as the third-largest smartphone vendor globally and remains a top-five player in television shipments, according to recent industry data.

The Bangladesh rollout introduces a mix of premium and mid-range products tailored to urban households. Among the headline releases is the Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer, priced at Tk 74,999 Bangladeshi taka, designed to complete a full wash-and-dry cycle in under an hour.

The company also showcased its latest television technology, including the TV S Mini LED Series, which features high-brightness displays, fast refresh rates and support for cinematic audio-visual.

Alongside this, Xiaomi introduced the TV A Pro Series 2026, offering 4K resolution and integrated smart TV capabilities at more accessible price points.

The wider product lineup includes air fryers, air purifiers, smart security cameras and tracking devices—part of Xiaomi’s broader strategy to embed connected technology across everyday domestic life.

Ziauddin Chowdhury, country manager for Xiaomi Bangladesh, on Monday said the expansion reflects changing consumer expectations. “Customers are increasingly looking for ecosystems rather than standalone devices,” he noted. “Our goal is to make smart living more accessible through a connected range of products that integrate seamlessly into daily routines.”
