Bangladesh Police has entered into a 10-year strategic partnership with telecommunications operator Grameenphone to strengthen its communications network and digital services.
The agreement covers the police’s official mobile number series 01320000000–01320299999, along with connectivity services for official and solutions-based numbers.
It also provides connectivity and related support for key digital platforms, including Online GD and the Crime Data Management System (CDMS).
The agreement was signed at Bangladesh Police Headquarters by Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Additional DIG (Headquarters), Bangladesh Police, and Helal Uddin Ahmed, Head of Law Enforcement Agencies Business at Grameenphone.
Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir and Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman were present at the signing ceremony.
Senior officials from both organisations, including Grameenphone Chief Business Officer Asif Naimur Rashid and Chief Human Resources Officer Sayeda Tahya Hossain, also attended.
Fakir said reliable connectivity and technology were becoming increasingly important as the police force’s methods of working and serving the public evolved.
He said the partnership would support the force’s communication and digital service requirements and help strengthen technology-enabled policing and public services.
Azman said Grameenphone would support Bangladesh Police with reliable connectivity and digital capabilities as its requirements developed.
He added that the partnership could create opportunities to explore emerging technologies for more connected and efficient operations, while stressing the importance of using technology responsibly and purposefully.
