The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is leading a high-level delegation to the Netherlands for the Circular Textile Trade Mission, taking place from September 8 to 11 under the theme “Together for a Circular Fashion Tomorrow.”
Jointly organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dhaka, in close collaboration with BGMEA, the mission aims to foster deeper cooperation in circular economy practices within the textile and apparel industry.
The delegation is headed by BGMEA Vice-President Vidiya Amrit Khan and includes board members Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Asef Kamal Pasha, and Sakeef Ahmed Salam. They are joined by prominent representatives from Bangladesh’s textile and recycling sectors.
According to BGMEA, the mission seeks to identify new avenues for business, investment, and technology exchange in areas such as recycling, textile waste management, and innovative production techniques, which are crucial for the industry’s transition toward a circular textile economy.
As part of the four-day programme, the delegation participated in high-level seminars on circular policy frameworks, green financing, and cutting-edge recycling technologies. They also visited leading Dutch companies including Brightfiber Inside, Wieland Textiles, SaXcell, and Frankenhuis, all known for their pioneering work in closed-loop textile systems.
A highlight of the visit was an engagement with the Circular Textile Lab at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, where delegates explored advanced prototyping facilities for recycled yarns and fabrics—offering tangible insights into scalable applications for Bangladesh’s textile sector.
The delegation also took part in Circular Textile Days, a flagship European platform that brings together global brands, innovators, and recyclers to showcase advancements in circular design, traceability, and sustainable production. The event served as a vital networking and matchmaking opportunity, and also positioned Bangladeshi innovations on a global stage.
BGMEA’s leadership role in the mission reflects its commitment to driving sustainability across the industry, as outlined in its Sustainability Vision 2030. The roadmap focuses on key goals such as circularity, carbon emission reduction, and building a resilient, green economy.
Several leading Bangladeshi companies joined the mission, including: Asian Apparels Limited, Circular Fashion Industries Limited, Cyclo, Desh Garments Limited, Evitex Dress Shirt Limited, Florence Group, Khetan Trading, Matin Spinning Mills PLC, Ocean Trade International, Recover, Recycle-Raw Limited, Saraz Fiber Tech Ltd, Setara Group, and Reverse Resources.
