Shamim Jahangir elected CJFD president, Touhid GS

The Chittagong Journalists Forum, Dhaka (CJFD) has elected a new executive committee for the 2026-2028 term, with journalist Md Shamim Jahangir chosen as president and RTV Special Correspondent Touhidur Rahman as general secretary (GS).

The committee was elected unanimously during a special general meeting held on Friday at the organisation’s office in Sandwip Bhaban, Fakirapool.

Jahangir, editor of Just Energy News, will lead the forum alongside Rahman, who serves as a special correspondent for RTV.

Other members of the executive committee include Morshed Noman of Sarashori as vice-president, Tarek Sikder of Boishakhi TV as joint general secretary, Touhidul Islam Rana of Independent TV as treasurer, Shahriar Hasan Badhan of Channel One as office secretary, and MA Ahad Shahin of Daily Amar Desh as sports and cultural affairs secretary.

The committee’s executive members are Mujib Masud (Jugantor), Jagaran Chakma (The Daily Star), Noimuddin (Risingbd), Humayun Kabir (Jugantor), Kamar Uddin (freelancer), Prosenjit Chowdhury (Daily Janata), and Shipankar Shil (Times of Bangladesh).

The meeting was chaired by outgoing president Mujib Masud. The election results were announced by Chief Election Commissioner Mesbah Uddin Jangi Chowdhury in the presence of election commissioners Masumur Rahman Khalili and Saif Islam Dilal.

The Chittagong Journalists Forum, Dhaka is an association of journalists from Bangladesh’s south-eastern Chattogram region who are based in the capital.
