Engineer R Sarangapani has taken charge as the Managing Director of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) on March 9, 2025.
Before this role, he served as the Executive Director (Business Development – Domestic and International and Consultancy) at NTPC Ltd., India, where he played a key role in making strategic decisions for both traditional and innovative business opportunities.
Born in 1966 in India, Sarangapani holds a B.E. in Electronics-Control & Instrumentation from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, and an M.Tech in Computer Science. He is also an alumnus of IIM, Lucknow.
Joining NTPC in 1988, he has nearly 35 years of experience in engineering and operations of power plants.
Sarangapani was the sole Indian member and a topic leader in developing the IEC 62443-2-4 standard for cybersecurity in industrial automation systems.
Additionally, he led the digital transformation team that crafted NTPC’s digital roadmap.
