Bangladesh raises jet fuel prices for domestic and international flights

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has raised jet fuel prices for both domestic and international airlines, with the increase taking effect from midnight, according to an order issued by the BERC on Wednesday.

The price of Jet A-1 fuel for domestic flights has been increased to Tk182.71 per litre, from Tk165.65.

For international flights, the price has risen to $1.18 per litre, from $1.07.

The latest increase extends a three-month upward trend in domestic jet fuel prices.

The price stood at Tk130.99 per litre in July, before rising to Tk159.52. It was increased again to Tk165.65 in September and has now reached Tk182.71.

The latest adjustment comes amid continued volatility in international oil and refined-fuel markets, which has put pressure on aviation fuel costs.

BERC began setting jet fuel prices in May 2025, replacing the previous system under which the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) adjusted prices periodically.

Under the BERC mechanism, jet fuel prices are reviewed monthly in line with international market movements. Prices are expected to rise when international costs increase and fall when they decline.

The regulator has based its adjustments on international benchmark prices and relevant exchange-rate movements. The latest increase is likely to add to operating costs for airlines, potentially putting further pressure on domestic airfares and international ticket prices.
