Bangladesh raises domestic jet fuel prices, cuts international rates

Bangladesh has raised jet fuel prices for domestic flights while slightly reducing rates for international flights, according to a new pricing order issued by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).

Under the revised rates, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has increased from Tk182.71 to Tk189.03 per litre. However, the price for international flights has been reduced from US$1.18 to US$1.16 per litre.

BERC announced the revised prices on Thursday (5 November), with the new rates coming into effect at midnight.

Domestic jet fuel prices have risen for four consecutive months, adding to operating costs for airlines.

In July, the price stood at Tk130.99 per litre before increasing to Tk159.52. It was raised further to Tk165.65 in September and Tk182.71 in October, before reaching the latest rate of Tk189.03.

BERC first introduced a monthly jet fuel pricing mechanism in May 2025, pledging to adjust domestic prices in line with movements in the international market. Under the system, prices are reviewed each month, rising when international prices increase and falling when they decline.

Before BERC took over the pricing mechanism, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) periodically set jet fuel prices.
