The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Sunday approved 12 development projects with an estimated total cost exceeding Tk 8,149 crore.
The approval was given at a meeting held on Sunday at the NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, chaired by ECNEC Chairperson and Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
Of this, government financing is Tk 8,58.77 crore, project loan is Tk 143.33 crore and the implementing organisation’s own financing is Tk 52.72 crore.
In a post-meeting press briefing, Planning Adviser Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud said the approved projects include six new ones, four revised, and two with extended implementation periods. The projects span a range of sectors including housing, infrastructure, security, education, agriculture, and energy.
The approved projects include major infrastructure project like the development of a road along the Karnafuli River from Kalurghat Bridge to Chaktai Canal—this project is in its second revision and has had its implementation period extended for the fourth time.
