Engr. Ramanath Pujari has joined as Managing Director of the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) effective 24 February 2026, the company announced.
Prior to his appointment, Pujari served as Project Director of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (MSTPP) in Rampal under BIFPCL and held the position of Executive Director at NTPC Limited. In his previous role, he oversaw plant operations, reliability, efficiency improvements and environmental compliance at the Maitree project.
During his tenure, the company said, he contributed to enhancing reliable power generation while ensuring adherence to environmental standards. Several social development and township initiatives were also implemented under his leadership.
Born in Odisha, India, in 1968, Pujari holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering & Technology, Bhubaneswar. He later completed an MBA from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon and undertook executive training programmes at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Harvard Business School.
Pujari joined NTPC in 1989 and brings around 36 years of experience in the power sector. Over the course of his career, he led the corporate safety department at NTPC and headed the company’s 2,980MW Sipat power station in Chhattisgarh. He has also worked in planning and systems as well as regional operation services within NTPC.
He is married and has two daughters.
