The Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited conducted a drive against illegal gas connections in the Bhuihgar area of Fatulla, Narayanganj, and imposed fines totaling Tk 2.5 lakh on Thursday.
The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Fazle Wahid, under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said a press release.
The drive was carried out with the presence of Titas Gas officials, who helped disconnect illegal gas connections at several industrial sites. These included the Anika Washing Plant, Raki Special Chanachur Factory, NS Washing Plant, and Suci Premium Bakery.
During the raid, various equipment such as boilers, dryers, burners, ovens, and tunnels were found to be illegally connected to the gas lines.
A total of 6,445 cubic feet of illegal gas connections were removed from these four establishments. As part of the operation, the Executive Magistrate conducted a mobile court session on-site, leading to fines for the businesses involved in using unauthorized gas connections. The total penalty imposed amounted to Tk 250,000 for the four establishments.
The raid targeted illegal gas connections in various industrial establishments, including one 300-kg boiler and four dryers at Anika Washing Plant, a burner and a star burner at Raki Special Chanachur Factory, four dryers at NS Washing Plant, and four ovens, one tunnel, and one star burner at Suci Premium Bakery.
