The government has decided to procure paddy and rice from the Aman harvest for the fiscal year 2024-25.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) held today at the Cabinet Conference Room in Dhaka, chaired by Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, the Economic Advisor and Committee Chair.
The FPMC outlined plans to purchase 3.5 lakh metric tons of paddy, 5.5 lakh metric tons of parboiled rice, and 1 lakh metric ton of atap (non-parboiled) rice.
Procurement prices have been set at Tk 33 per kg for paddy, Tk 47 per kg for parboiled rice, and Tk 46 per kg for atap rice.
The collection period will extend from November 17, 2024, to February 28, 2025, for paddy and parboiled rice, while atap rice will be collected until March
