Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC disconnected over 500 illegal gas connections during an operation in the Jhauchhar and Nayagaon areas of Kamrangirchar on Wednesday.
The day-long operation, which began in the morning and continued until the evening, was led by Executive Magistrate Fazle Wahid of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
Senior officials from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC, including the DGM of the Dhaka Metro-5 region, were present during the drive.
Illegal gas distribution lines supplying establishments such as Al Mohammadia Furniture, Khanadhuli Factory, and Ma Babar Doa Aluminium in the Jhauchhar and Nayagaon areas were dismantled during the operation.
Authorities removed approximately 300 feet of illegal gas pipelines, disconnected seven unauthorized burners, and eliminated three illegal connections.
Additionally, the operation seized 240 feet of MS pipes, seven burners, a compressor machine/booster, burner equipment, iron tools, and an RMS set.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Dhaka District Administration.
As no owners were present at the sites, immediate penalties could not be imposed. However, the Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC, Dhanmondi, has been instructed to file regular lawsuits against the offenders.
