Bangladesh semiconductor roadshow begins in US

Bangladesh has launched its “Silicon River & BRAINGAIN USA Roadshow 2026” in Austin, Texas, as part of efforts to position the country as an emerging global semiconductor and deep-technology hub.

The roadshow began on June 5 with meetings between a Bangladeshi delegation and senior executives from leading semiconductor companies including AMD, NXP and Tokyo Electron (TEL), according to organisers.

The delegation was led by Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) President M. A. Jabbar. Discussions focused on Bangladesh’s long-term semiconductor strategy, talent development, innovation ecosystem and prospects for international collaboration.

Professor Muhammad Mustafa Hussain of Purdue University, who is also the chief architect of the Silicon River Bangladesh Initiative, presented Bangladesh’s progress and future ambitions in the semiconductor sector.

During the meetings, the delegation highlighted Bangladesh’s growing potential in areas such as artificial intelligence-driven semiconductor solutions, digital twin technologies, advanced packaging, workforce development and industry-academia collaboration, rather than competing solely on low-cost advantages.

Bangladeshi technology firms including Dynamic Solution Innovators (DSi), iTest Bangladesh Limited, Neural Semiconductor Limited and SILICONOVA Limited also showcased their technical expertise and business capabilities before the participating companies.

According to organisers, representatives from the host companies appreciated Bangladesh’s technology-focused approach and expressed interest in future collaboration, technical exchanges and greater participation in the country’s emerging semiconductor ecosystem.

On June 6, the Austin BRAINGAIN Reception brought together around 75 Bangladeshi-origin semiconductor professionals working in the United States, representing more than 1,500 years of combined industry experience.

Participants discussed Bangladesh’s plans to develop a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem through research, entrepreneurship, talent development and global partnerships.

Organisers said the response from diaspora professionals was highly encouraging, with many describing the initiative as the first coordinated and technically grounded roadmap for Bangladesh’s emergence in the global deep-technology sector.

The reception, initially scheduled for two hours, continued for nearly three hours amid extensive discussions on semiconductor strategy, advanced packaging, startup opportunities and diaspora engagement.

A major focus of the event was the willingness of Bangladeshi-origin professionals to contribute their expertise, networks and leadership to Bangladesh’s future semiconductor ambitions.

The Austin programme was supported by several semiconductor professionals, including Dr Sayeed Badrudduza of NXP, Samiul Khan of AMD and Joel Barnett of Tokyo Electron.

The Silicon River & BRAINGAIN USA Roadshow is scheduled to continue in several US cities in the coming weeks to strengthen partnerships between Bangladesh, the global semiconductor industry and the Bangladeshi diaspora.
