Over 26.43 million electricity subscribers have come under without electricity as 65 palli biddut samities under Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) affected severely due to powerful cyclone Remal on Sunday night that washed away in greater Khulna and Barisal divisions.
It also damaged properties and incurred loss over Tk 912 million, according to deputy principal information officer of the ministry of power, energy and mineral resources Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin.
“A total of 65 Palli Biddut Samity out of 80 fully or partially affected due to cyclone Remal,” he disclosed about primary data of the cyclone in power sector.
Besides, hundreds of fish enclosures have been washed away due to Cyclone Remal in Khulna, causing Tk 1.68 billion financial loss.
