USA assures long-term energy cooperation with Bangladesh

The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to long-term cooperation with Bangladesh in the energy sector following high-level talks in Washington DC, where both sides discussed energy security, infrastructure development and the exchange of modern energy technologies.

A bilateral meeting held on 10 June focused on strengthening collaboration between the two countries, addressing global supply chain challenges, and expanding technological partnerships in the energy sector.

The Bangladeshi delegation was led by Anindya Islam Amit, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, while the US delegation was headed by the newly appointed Under Secretary of Energy, Mr Kyle Hausweit.

According to officials, the meeting involved detailed and constructive discussions on enhancing energy security, improving infrastructure capacity, and promoting cooperation in advanced energy technologies.

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United States, Tariq Md. Ariful Islam, also attended the meeting.

Both sides underscored the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in energy, with the United States assuring continued long-term support in areas of mutual interest.

A Bangladeshi delegation led by the State Minister for Power and Energy is currently visiting the United States to explore further opportunities for cooperation in the sector.
